Mental Health Nursing Professional

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled nurse to join our team at Turning Point of Central California, Inc. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and clients.
About the Job:
In this role, you will work closely with our experienced professionals to deliver high-quality nursing care to patients and clients in our outpatient programs. Your expertise and compassion will be instrumental in helping us achieve our mission of transforming lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to patients, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with healthcare teams.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records, ensuring seamless operations.
- Assist with medical treatments, procedures, and general patient care, promoting independence and self-reliance.
- Transport patients to appointments and laboratories for tests, ensuring safe and timely transport.
- Counsel individuals, intervene in crises, and provide pre-care coverage, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Conduct daily living skills sessions and resocialization activity groups, fostering social connections and community engagement.
- Collaborate with physicians on patient care and medication adjustments, ensuring optimal outcomes.
- Participate in treatment programs, encouraging patient participation and self-reliance, promoting positive behavioral change.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, reporting significant changes to professional staff, and monitoring client medication administration.
- Promote effective communication with monolingual Spanish-speaking clients and families, demonstrating cultural competence.
Requirements:
- Possess a valid license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Psychiatric Technician issued by the State of California.
- Knowledge of mental health concepts, physical, emotional, and social needs of emotionally disturbed individuals.
- Fundamentals of psychiatric and mental health nursing care, basic medical and psychiatric terminology.
- Ability to apply routine psychiatric/medical nursing care to mentally ill patients.
- Recognize symptoms indicative of adverse patient reactions, communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Bilingual skills preferred, with intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and other software.
- Possess a valid driver's license, access to dependable transportation, and Agency insurer authorization.
- Pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and TB test.
