Role of Our English Language Arts Instructors:
Our English Language Arts instructors play a vital role in our Middle School team. They are passionate about transforming ELA into engaging, stimulating, and challenging experiences for every student.
We cultivate a vibrant learning atmosphere by collaborating to create dynamic educational environments centered on project- and inquiry-based learning. Our co-teaching model enables classroom educators to work together, ensuring that students engage with enriching and challenging lesson content. We promote a collaborative culture that encourages students to explore their interests while embracing restorative practices, fostering a sense of connection, empowerment, and respect.
Daily Responsibilities of Our ELA Instructors:
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure our curriculum meets and surpasses common core educational standards.
- Partner with co-teachers to design and implement innovative subject-specific unit and lesson plans tailored to student needs, aligned with our mission.
- Assist in preparing students for state assessments.
- Engage with fellow educators to exchange best practices for professional growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
- Participate actively in community outreach initiatives.
- Foster an enjoyable learning atmosphere, making every effort to engage and excite students about their education.
Essential Requirements:
- A valid and current New York State Teacher Certification is mandatory. If not certified, candidates must be actively pursuing certification through an approved pathway.
- A bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required.
- Completion of a fingerprint background check through IdentoGo is necessary prior to employment.
- At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in an urban educational setting.
