We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist II to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing clinical services to our patient population, ensuring the highest standard of quality and excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the processing of hematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow, blood, and Core Blood.
- Perform laboratory tests and assist in the implementation of departmental quality control programs.
- Review and report final test results, verifying the computer print-out where applicable.
- Assist in all areas of the hospital in the interface of the patient care computer system to access screens for order entry and results review.
- Undergo specialized training on all routine preventive maintenance programs for equipment in the laboratory.
- Assist in data collection of various assays to ensure the validation of results according to FACT standards.
- Maintain a general knowledge of safe laboratory practices, as endorsed by the NYS Department of Health and OSHA, and conduct oneself in a manner consistent with those practices to ensure the safety of all personnel.
- Review, learn, and understand all applicable operating standards and regulations, and assist in their implementation.
- Be flexible to participate in department functions beyond regular hours, including on-call responsibilities.
- Clinical Laboratory Technologist New York State license.
- B.S. in clinical sciences/biotechnology with a minimum of three years' experience in Blood bank, immunology, hematology, microbiology.
- ASCP certification.
- Preferred: Stem cell processing, manipulation, and cryopreservation, knowledge of quality control and regulations.
Stony Brook Medicine offers a competitive salary range of $88,250-$111,922, with additional benefits including a generous leave package, health plans, and state pension. Some positions offer shift differentials for Night ($15,000) & Evening ($10,000) as well as $575 for inconvenience for positions not on day shift.
