Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a valuable member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including primary plating of clinical and environmental specimens, quality control on media and reagents, and identification of routine isolates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary plating of clinical and environmental specimens onto appropriate culture media using standard plating methods.
  • Perform quality control on all media and reagents used in the laboratory and maintain accurate records of results.
  • Identify routine isolates utilizing the protocol planned by the Associate Chief of Microbiology and coordinate efforts with supervising technologist.
  • Efficiently use the hospital computer system to input microbiology reports and extract pertinent information.

Qualifications:

  • NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility.
  • 0-2 years of demonstrated relevant clinical laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology, or Life Science.
  • Microbiology or generalist registry (or Registry Eligible) from a nationally recognized organization.
