Role Overview:

The individual will oversee a designated customer and geographic sales area, ensuring that client requirements are fulfilled while achieving or surpassing planned sales and profit targets. This role involves identifying new business opportunities and clientele, utilizing effective company and territory management strategies along with sales techniques. Building trust and credibility with clients by understanding and addressing their distribution, product, and strategic needs, as well as resolving challenges and opportunities, is essential. The successful candidate will efficiently manage the assigned sales territory through effective time management, setting goals and objectives, and maintaining regular contact with all clients based on account volume, opportunities, and needs aligned with company initiatives and sales processes. All assigned accounts within the territory will be managed according to their location, potential, and size, developing tailored strategies for each customer. Proper utilization of marketing and presentation materials, sales support tools, and company CRM is expected. The role also requires collaboration with the Region Sales Manager as necessary. The candidate will function as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, performing any duties assigned to support the company in achieving key initiatives and targeted position KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively showcases the features and advantages of Performance Food Group's offerings compared to those of competing distributors. Formulates suitable product recommendations and consumer insights presentations to bolster clients' business strategies.
  • Creates both short-term and long-term strategies to engage high-potential accounts, managing time and resources to comprehensively cover the sales territory.
  • Engages with local brokers and manufacturer representatives to identify sales opportunities.
  • Ensures timely follow-through on all commitments. Aligns the clients' long- and short-term needs with the features and benefits of Performance Food Group's service system, advocating ideas and solutions that support clients' business strategies. Compares the features and benefits of Performance Food Group's services with those of competitors. Develops tailored bids and menus for all products to assist clients' business strategies. Refers non-sales issues (such as delayed shipments or order expediting) to Sales Managers or support teams promptly and effectively.
  • Communicates relevant customer information, including issues, challenges, and needs, to the distribution center customer service team and merchandising regularly. Involves Sales Managers as needed and engages management in appropriate internal and external meetings.
  • Utilizes Performance Food Group's information systems, laptop, and telephone to enhance customer relationships through presentations, correspondence, and calls. Continuously retrieves and employs information to make suitable and profitable pricing recommendations for both the customer and Performance Food Group.
  • Ensures the Performance Food Group CRM system is utilized and updated as instructed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
