Job Title: Health Information Management Director

Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Information Management Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our medical records, health information technology, and related systems and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health information management, with experience in developing policies and procedures for the preparation, maintenance, completion, privacy, regulatory compliance, and retention of medical records. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with clients, staff, and vendors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for health information management
  • Overseeing the maintenance and security of medical records
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and CARF
  • Collaborating with IT staff to assess risk and develop improvements to health information workflow, security, and privacy
  • Facilitating HIPAA compliance training and monitoring programs
  • Leading and managing health information technical staff

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:

  • Knowledge of third-party payers, billing codes, and applicable documentation
  • Knowledge of compliance concerns, including security risk assessments and breach reporting
  • Ability to learn specialized software programs, including HIPAA Secure Now and Policy Tech
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing the maintenance and release of protected health information

Physical requirements include the ability to move from location to location, bend, stoop, lift 25 pounds, communicate clearly, prepare written communications, present information to other employees, process complex information within established procedures/programs, and enter data into various programs.
