Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Adient. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental functions of our manufacturing facility are in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure the facility is in compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations and rules.
  • Risk Management: Champion the facility's risk management program through the corporation's Business Operating Systems (BOS) to minimize physical and financial exposure.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop and track progress of strategies to engage employees in health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Incident Investigation: Respond and investigate environmental incidents and spills, including completing investigations to determine root-cause and closure activities.
  • Training and Development: Identify and facilitate appropriate and required environmental training.
  • Regulatory Agency Inspections: Oversee regulatory agency inspections and ensure compliance.
  • Housekeeping and Safety Inspections: Conduct regular housekeeping and safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response: Maintain First Aid for the facility and provide first aid treatment of on-the-job injuries or illnesses.
  • MSDS and Fire Safety: Maintain MSDS online for the Plant and policies relating to this program, and establish, maintain, and provide training for the Fire Safety Program.
  • Safety Training and Orientation: Develop and facilitate appropriate and required plant safety training for all staff, and conduct safety and environmental orientation program.
  • Ergonomics and Lean Manufacturing: Identify, recommend, and implement ergonomic changes to reduce health and safety injuries, and team with regional Workers Compensation claims Administrative Team to manage open Workers Compensation claims.
  • Audits and Compliance: Complete ISO14001 and other HSE audits, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) or Occupational Safety.
  • Experience: 3+ years of EHS manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Certifications: HSE certifications and Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Skills: Proficient with MS Office and advanced skills with MSExcel.
