This position is integral in achieving exceptional standards and contributing to corporate savings by mitigating environmental impacts and spearheading initiatives to enhance operational efficiency in environmental practices. The focus of this role will encompass environmental compliance, Stellantis Production Way (SPW) environmental activities, Environmental Management System (EMS 14001), and objectives for environmental enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

The Environmental Specialist will report to the Head of US Manufacturing Environmental Compliance and will be tasked with the following duties:
  • Oversee routine environmental documentation, compliance responsibilities, inventories, and assessments; including data collection, record maintenance, monitoring, evaluation, and approval processes.
  • Develop and implement environmental training programs and assessments to ensure necessary training is identified and executed.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) processes and follow up to ensure compliance, providing insights to plant leadership and corporate teams.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective measures, and communicate findings to plant leadership and corporate staff.
  • Assist in new equipment initiatives from the conceptual phase to ensure that environmental design specifications and regulations are integrated.
  • Facilitate communication regarding environmental regulatory inspections with plant leadership.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing key performance indicators related to environmental metrics.
  • Support the establishment and upkeep of the plant's environmental management system to align with EMS E2HS and SPW Environment Pillar requirements.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Fundamental understanding of federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations and requirements.
  • A minimum of five years of pertinent experience in environmental compliance, including auditing, consulting, or manufacturing.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and additional hours as necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and/or other relevant software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Professional certifications related to environmental fields (e.g., PE, CHMM).
  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing environmental compliance.
