Key Responsibilities:- Curriculum Development and Implementation: Design and deliver an age-appropriate curriculum that meets the developmental needs of preschool students.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured and nurturing classroom environment that encourages learning and development. Ensure classroom cleanliness and organization, including daily sanitization of toys and surfaces.
- Student Assessment: Conduct regular screenings and assessments, communicate results with families, and tailor educational approaches to individual student needs.
- Parental Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with parents through newsletters, bulletin boards, and meetings to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all state licensing regulations, including maintaining a safe classroom environment. Report any incidents of child abuse or neglect as required by law.
- Professional Development: Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain credentials.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, ensuring that the classroom environment and curriculum respect and reflect this diversity.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification: Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alaska Teaching Certificate.
- Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with young children in an educational setting is required. Experience in an Early Childhood or Head Start Program is preferred.
- Skills: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Proficiency in curriculum planning and classroom management.
- Additional Requirements: Current Infant/Toddler/Child CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain this certification within 90 days of hire.
