Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Director of Medical Records to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Retrieve and deliver resident records as needed, ensuring timely and secure handling, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Manage medical record requests, ensuring accurate and efficient processing, with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Assemble and review resident medical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy, with attention to detail.
- Filing and indexing medical reports, doctors' and nurses' notes, x-rays, and lab results, with a focus on organization.
- Pickup and delivery of medical records from nurse's stations, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to company policy.
- Indexing and maintaining active and inactive medical records according to company policy, with a focus on efficiency.
- Protecting resident files and data with confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA standards.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, indexing, and legal aspects of health information is preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of medical records experience is preferred.
- The ability to use a computer database for medical records is essential.
- Able to type 45 words per minute.
- Excellent verbal and written skills are required.
- The ability to move intermittently throughout the day.
- Repetitive hand motion.
- The ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet.
- The ability to read fine print on progress notes and/or medical labels.
