The Procurement Team

The Procurement team at Whirlpool Corporation is responsible for identifying, researching, and evaluating suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. The team recognizes and evaluates sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. They assess suppliers' products to ensure they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.

This Role in Summary

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Buyer role located at its Riverview Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Final Mile and Reverse Logistics subcategories for North America (US and Canada) and will have accountability for approximately $220M in annual spend. This position will engage cross-functional stakeholders and utilize effective Supplier Relationship Management techniques to enhance commercial and operational performance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for $220M annual category spend, supporting Whirlpool's North America Region manufacturing plants and distribution network.
  • Develop and implement the sourcing strategy for the Final Mile & Reverse Logistics subcategories.
  • Lead fact-based sourcing decisions, negotiate commercial terms, and generate contractual agreements with the supply base.
  • Drive supplier performance management and build commercial relationships.
  • Create, measure, and execute initiatives that optimize cost, quality, and service.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships across the business and engage Final Mile & Reverse Logistics Operations to generate and execute solutions to improve Whirlpool Corporation's operational and cost performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Global Procurement policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes related to the sourcing of Final Mile & Reverse Logistics services, including contract management, financial forecasting, and supplier performance management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated practical use of supplier management and sourcing principles.
  • Proven communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and management skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer-related skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple key activities.
  • Ability to quickly build strong rapport and relationships with internal process partners and suppliers.
  • Ability to grow in technical abilities to become a subject matter expert.
