Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient access to healthcare services at UNC Health. This position is responsible for facilitating efficient and accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify Patient Information: Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient demographics, insurance details, and guarantor information to guarantee patient safety, charging, coding, and billing accuracy.
  • Process Registration and Insurance Verification: Complete and document all necessary forms, including governmental, regulatory, financial, and contractual documents, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide Price Estimates: Utilize price estimation tools to provide patients with accurate estimates of their financial obligations.
  • Meet Collection Targets: Achieve departmental targets for upfront collections, including deposits, estimated amounts due, co-pays, and prior balances.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance: Actively participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives by utilizing system work queues, reducing individual errors, and making corrections.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor's degree in Arts/Business preferred.
  • Training and Certification: Complete EPIC Cadence and Prelude training and pass the exam upon completion.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a customer-service oriented approach.
  • Medical Terminology: Familiarity with medical terminology.
