Job Summary

Penske is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, overhauling, adjusting, and repairing all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with a primary focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all levels of maintenance services, with a focus on refrigeration unit maintenance equipment.
  • Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.
  • Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Provide additional support for preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
Requirements
  • 6 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in refrigeration component overhaul required.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • 608/609 certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of necessary tools and trade skills.
  • Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
  • Must understand and comply with Penske safety and maintenance policies.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Must use hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or operate required tools or controls.
  • Must be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to see and hear to safely navigate the work environment.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
