ROLE SUMMARY

Herbalists are alternative medicine practitioners who utilize plant-based solutions to enhance health and treat ailments.

Herbal Goodness is on the lookout for a certified herbal specialist to join our passionate team of natural wellness advocates, either on a full-time or part-time basis.

The in-house herbal specialist will focus on advising and creating herbal products and blends, drawing from various traditions such as traditional Chinese medicine, Western herbalism, and Ayurveda. This role involves offering educational classes and personalized consultations (both in-person and online), as well as crafting custom herbal formulations. Additionally, you will contribute to our research and development initiatives and take on the role of product and blend innovator.

This position is based at our retail location, where you will support training efforts, lead community classes, provide individual consultations, and advise on herbal juices, extracts, and custom blends. You will also be expected to act as an educator, conducting research, authoring articles and books, and hosting events.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant herbal setting, such as clinical herbalism, product formulation, or quality control in a herbal supplement company.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of herbal medicine, including therapeutic applications, potential side effects, and appropriate dosages.
  • Familiarity with herbal product development, including formulation principles, extraction techniques, quality control processes, and regulatory standards.
  • Strong research and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Business insight into the herbal supplement industry, market trends, and consumer behavior.
  • Completion of a recognized herbalist certification program.
  • Additional certifications related to herbal product development or quality control are advantageous.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Herbal Science, Botany, Ethnobotany, or Nutritional Science.
  • A Master's degree in a related field is a significant plus, particularly in areas like clinical herbalism or herbal product development.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability to work on-site five days a week (Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm CST).
