Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Child Development Teacher to join our team at the University of San Diego. As a key member of our School of Leadership and Education Sciences, you will be responsible for implementing a developmentally appropriate program of education and care for children aged 2 through 5 in a full-day setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a co-teacher to plan and implement a curriculum that aligns with the Center's philosophy and mission.
  • Observe and document the progression of development of individual children and complete developmental assessments twice a year.
  • Facilitate a classroom environment that supports individual and classroom goals for growth and development.
  • Provide active supervision of and engagement with children as assigned.
  • Maintain close communication with parents to discuss and analyze growth and development.
  • Engage in collaborative reflection of teaching practices and classroom events with co-teacher and center staff.
  • Provide guidance to USD practicum, field experience, and/or interning students as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 12 secondary units in Early Childhood Education or current enrollment.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a full-day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of Associate's Degree in ECE or Child Development.
  • Three years of experience in a full-day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, bend, squat, reach, kneel, and climb stairs. They must also be able to move from a sitting to standing position quickly, safely, and without difficulty.
