The Surgical Appointment Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the patient experience by professionally managing the scheduling of both inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures. This position is essential in fostering a welcoming environment by prioritizing the courteous treatment of all patients.

Core Duties Include:

  • Engaging with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in alignment with the core values of Thomas Jefferson University.
  • Collecting and verifying patient insurance details, including obtaining necessary prior authorizations and referrals to ensure all approvals are secured before the scheduled surgical date.
  • Conducting pre-procedure outreach to patients and confirming their appointment times via phone.
  • Providing patients with comprehensive pre-operative instructions.
  • Upholding HIPAA privacy and security standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Experience in customer service or patient-facing roles in healthcare is preferred.
  • A commitment to delivering a positive experience for all patients and visitors.
  • Proficiency in processing and interpreting data.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while handling time-sensitive responsibilities.

Employment Conditions

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Thomas Jefferson University for individuals working within clinical settings. Candidates not currently vaccinated will need to receive the vaccination prior to their start date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
