Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations at our Jersey City site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of technicians, welders, and administrative personnel to ensure the preventive maintenance and repair of our fleet equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direction to technicians, welders, and administrative personnel to ensure that all repair/maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Oversee the coordination, planning, and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity and effectively manage departmental overtime.
  • Monitor the shop's operational performance and efficiency, taking action to redirect activities as necessary.
  • Report to leadership on shop performance and implement procedures for process/programmatic changes to improve efficiency.
  • Manage daily shop safety meetings, fleet walk-arounds, coaching, and counseling of maintenance team personnel, and conduct corrective action when necessary.
  • Make hiring/termination decisions in concert with Human Resources and appropriate management.
  • Oversee employee training and performance evaluations, and evaluate, recommend, and approve maintenance personnel recommendations for merit increases, promotions, and job changes.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program for all shops within the area of responsibility.
  • Identify trends in road calls/breakdowns, oversee maintenance of buildings and other facility needs on site, and control maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control, and outsourcing of repairs.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs and maintenance to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with company safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Accountable for scheduled Quality Control Inspections, track issues and resolution to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with company safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles used by the company to ensure the ability to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor for a large fleet of vehicles or multiple site locations requiring knowledge and application of OSHA Haz Com and OSHA Lock Out Tag Out.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3 years of leadership experience.
