Hospital Security Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Hospital Security Officer to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a key member of our safety and security team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff across our University Campus and North Liberty Campus.
### Key Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff entering the hospital
* Assist with wayfinding and information to patients, visitors, and staff
* Perform security checks, patrol facility, and monitor special assignments
* Conduct incident investigations and provide documentation for follow-up
* Respond to and assist in all incidents regarding safety and security
* Respond to lock/unlock doors, troubleshoot elevator problems and extricate as needed, and assist in traffic/parking enforcement
* Respond to and resolve emergencies such as fire, HazMat, and security alarms
* Provide security surveillance of institution, including physiatric units
* Maintain a working knowledge of computers to process data, operate fire alarm systems, and security systems
* Escort to parking ramps and outlying areas
* Perform safekeeping procedures
* Provide effective oral and written communication
* Enforce all institution policies and procedures
### Key Training/Compliances
* IAHSS Basic Online Course to be completed within 6 months of start date
* Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) 8 hour - to be completed in first 90 days
* Health Safety Professional (HSP) - to be completed in first 90 days
### Qualifications
* Minimum Eligibility Requirements
* Two years' experience in security and safety, or fire safety, or law enforcement; or
* One year of post-high school education related to security and safety and one year of experience in security and safety; or
* Two years of post-high school education related to security and safety
* Possession of appropriate driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
* Ability to obtain basic certification from International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 6 months of hire and maintain certification for duration of employment.
### Desirable Requirements
* Two years of customer service experience
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer software applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
