Position Overview

Role Summary:

The Childcare Program Manager is tasked with overseeing the seamless operation of one or two childcare facilities. This role encompasses the management and facilitation of Before & After School Enrichment and/or Early Learning initiatives at designated YMCA program locations. Key responsibilities include the development and execution of educational plans, maintaining site documentation, and fulfilling additional program obligations to ensure compliance with state regulations and effective program oversight. The individual in this position is expected to engage actively in childcare activities for up to 50% of their working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designated on the license and ensures adherence to all licensing standards, maintaining the site in accordance with ODJFS daycare regulations.
  • Directly supervises Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers within assigned locations.
  • Evaluates the performance of supervised staff and recommends training or personnel changes as necessary.
  • Creates and implements educational opportunities that incorporate developmental goals and objectives, integrating activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth across all curricular areas.
  • Utilizes assessment and screening data to inform curriculum and program decisions for individuals and groups, employing age-appropriate guidance techniques.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop and implement tailored guidance strategies.
  • Fosters an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere for all children, youth, and families.
  • Represents the YMCA by cultivating positive relationships with program participants, parents, and local community organizations.
  • Communicates with families regarding the connections between learning activities, the environment, and child development.
  • Ensures adherence to emergency preparedness protocols and oversees daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
  • Maintains compliance with health and safety regulations, administers First Aid as needed, and communicates any concerns or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Engages in strategic planning and goal-setting for program enhancement.
  • Implements initiatives to promote the program's value within the community.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive filing system that includes policies, schedules, ODJFS childcare regulations, enrollment data, and staff records.
  • Ensures the site is adequately supplied by coordinating with District Coordinators for essential materials.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

  • Must possess the necessary education and/or certification to meet OCCRRA requirements for CPL 3.
  • Certification in CPR (Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer), Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration, along with required safety training within 30 days of hire.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a SCHOOL AGE/PRESCHOOL childcare environment.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a supervisory and management role.
  • Preferred experience working with diverse populations.
  • At least 1 year of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred experience with ODJFS licensing procedures and Step Up to Quality standards.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.

  • Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of work.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel capabilities and experience with payroll systems.
  • Willingness to act as a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicions of child abuse and neglect, following established reporting procedures.
