Position Overview

As a Class A Truck Operator at Becker Iron & Metal, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of materials across various locations. You will be tasked with inspecting your vehicle for any mechanical or safety concerns prior to departure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transport materials to and from designated clients.
  • Identify and report any mechanical or safety issues with the vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate records of driving hours, rest periods, and expenses.
  • Utilize our automated system to document each phase of the loading and unloading process.
  • Adhere to all driving regulations and company policies regarding routes, parking, and breaks.
  • Skillfully maneuver trucks into appropriate loading and unloading positions.
  • Gather and confirm delivery instructions from clients.
  • Report any accidents, defects, or violations promptly.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a truck driver.
  • Proficient in using electronic navigation tools and software.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant truck driving regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic or adverse weather.
  • Willingness to undergo background and drug screenings.
  • Possession of a valid CDL Class A license.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

  • Navigate various terrains, including flat surfaces and rugged outdoor areas.
  • Perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
  • Utilize fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for operating tools.
  • Maintain both close and distance vision for driving and inspections.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
