Work Schedule:
Full Time, 6:30 AM - 5 PM, 4x10 Hour Shifts

Your Role:
Under general supervision, the surgical scrub technician/nurse plays a vital role in patient care during surgical procedures by executing technical and delegated tasks. As a member of the surgical team, you will provide care to patients across various age groups, adhering to established standards of care. Compliance with all applicable regulations and standards is essential, as is a commitment to outstanding customer service and respectful relationships.

Your Contributions to the Team:
· Serve as a surgical scrub by anticipating the surgeon's needs and keeping the circulating nurse informed throughout the procedure. Ensure all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications are prepared prior to surgery.
· Innovate to maintain high standards and quality while facilitating cost savings.
· Assist the team efficiently with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times, directing ancillary personnel as needed.
· Provide guidance and support to other healthcare team members in the surgical environment, utilizing your knowledge to assist with training and orientation of new staff.
· Promote a safe environment by taking appropriate actions in emergencies and controlling hazards that may endanger patients, visitors, and staff.
· Follow infection control practices diligently, including adherence to CDC isolation guidelines and proper use of PPE.
· Participate in performance improvement activities and support quality standards set by the department.
· Foster positive relationships with physicians, management, and other departments, addressing complaints in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
Skills and Knowledge Required:
+ Proficient communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English to fulfill job responsibilities.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
+ Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and familiarity with surgical instruments.

Preferred Education and Experience:
+ Experience in a clinical setting related to specialty areas, particularly in orthopedics and/or trauma surgery.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
+ If LPN, must possess a current, valid State of Florida license as a Licensed Professional Nurse.
+ Additional surgical technician certification is not mandatory.
+ Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) is required. Completion of an RN training program may substitute for certification.
+ BLS certification is essential.
