Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Behavior Technician to join our team at Aberdeen School District 5. As a key member of our student support services, you will play a vital role in providing academic and behavioral support to students enrolled in our district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a member of a student's Behavior Success Team to maintain consistency in implementing behavior plans throughout the school day.
  • Assist and/or lead the development and creation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for individual students.
  • Adhere to comprehensive and specific behavior plans and systems when working with students with significant behaviors to ensure safety and consistency.
  • Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments as directed to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching their academic goals.
  • Attend planning meetings with teachers and staff to maintain consistency throughout the district.
  • Attend trainings and functions as assigned to acquire and/or convey information relative to job functions.
  • Collaborate with various groups and/or individuals to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum and school improvement.
  • Collect data from various sources to assist in behavior and academic planning.
  • Confer with teachers and/or parents as required to provide input into the evaluation of students' progress and/or implement/modify students' objectives.
  • Demonstrate behavior techniques to provide effective strategies to improve student success.
  • Facilitate school improvement activities with school administration, staff, etc. to implement successful school-wide systems of supports for behavior.
  • Maintain files and/or records to ensure compliance with relevant regulations/guidelines.
  • Prepare materials and keep records related to a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) to assist the teacher in maintaining IEP data.
  • Provide school-based curricular, instructional, and classroom-based assessment support, at the direction and supervision of the assigned teacher, to resolve learning & behavior issues and/or implement school improvement plans in conformance with established guidelines.
  • Research various topics to keep abreast of current trends, technology, and tools related to educational improvement.
  • Respond to inquiries from teachers, administrators, students, etc. to provide information and/or recommendations.
  • Support classroom teachers and other school personnel to assist them in implementing supporting students with challenging behaviors.
  • Transport materials and equipment to ensure the availability of items as needed.
Requirements
  • Hold and maintain a certificate as a registered behavior technician (RBT) or successful completion of RBT training and assessment within 90 days of employment.
  • Have a Type II driver's license, CPR/First Aid certification, and completed and cleared Criminal Justice Fingerprint and Background Clearance.
  • Be able to work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods, lead, guide, and/or coordinate others, and operate within a defined budget.

  • Strong written and verbal English skills.
  • Performing basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios.
  • Reading technical information, composing a variety of documents, and/or facilitating group discussions.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Remaining objective, fair, and open-minded.
  • Having good organizational skills, meeting timelines appropriately.
  • Being physically able to perform duties as required.
