Job Title: Systems Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we are pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to join our team and contribute to the success of our mission.

Job Summary:

The Systems Engineer III will be responsible for leading the development and integration of complex systems, including fluid systems, for our New Glenn launch vehicle. This role will require strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and integration of fluid systems, including component-level testing and system-level validation.
  • Manage requirements development, decomposition, trade studies, and requirement verification/validation.
  • Develop strategies and approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) integration, analysis, and verification.
  • Serve as primary subsystem engineering/technical POC for all systems engineering artifacts, including requirements specifications, ICDs, test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Coordinate transition of completed systems to operations/sustainment.
  • Represent the Systems Engineering team in technical reviews and failure investigations.
  • Define integrated test parameters, provide test execution support, and anomaly resolution.
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in Systems Engineering, Integration & Test, or development of fluid systems.
  • Experience with Cryogenic, Pneumatic, and/or Hydraulic systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering practices, including requirements development, standard verification methods, functional decomposition, standard diagramming techniques, risk and opportunity management.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next Gen.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, authoring, and executing integrated tests and/or operating complex systems.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management tools such as Windchill.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Ability to work with partially defined requirements and changing criteria.
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs.
  • Experience with launch vehicle or ground cryogenic and pressure systems and/or complex mechanisms including Umbilical Release Mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing technical procedures, non-conformance documentation, and specifications.
  • Successful experience leading and managing teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet a top-level system requirement.
  • Strong safety record and attitude, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical tests and operations.
  • Knowledge of fluids system operation and maintenance processes.
