Position Overview

Leverage your expertise in environmental, biodiversity, and landscape GIS methodologies to assist our Living Atlas of the World team in developing innovative and engaging content. The Living Atlas represents the most extensive geospatial data repository globally, extensively utilized across the ArcGIS platform, and is rapidly evolving into the foundation of web GIS. Your role will involve identifying essential datasets from both national and international sources and publishing them as web services, in addition to collaborating with prominent clients to integrate their data into the Living Atlas.

In this capacity, you will also partner with content leaders who are crafting solutions, applications, blogs, and facilitating geospatial educational opportunities. This is a remarkable chance to be part of a project team that is pioneering the development of sophisticated, cutting-edge systems that enhance access to vital environmental data and promote sustainable design worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and implement web layers, maps, and application products for the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World.
  • Curate contributed content for the Living Atlas to guarantee that the products are of superior quality, well-documented, and highly beneficial for the GIS community.
  • Establish processes to analyze and automate the updating of intricate datasets, including remotely sensed, in-situ, or modeled sources.
  • Collaborate within a team environment on large-scale initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to colleagues and clients through participation in focused projects and development sprints.
  • Identify key clients and educate them on advanced techniques and workflows.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in contemporary GIS workflows, including the publication of complex feature layers or imagery web services.
  • A strong desire to learn and rapidly launch new content while thriving in a dynamic, team-oriented development environment.
  • Proficiency in using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Python Notebooks.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related fields.
  • Experience in landscape ecology, biodiversity, and suitability analysis.
  • Experience in creating StoryMaps to develop place-based narratives.
