Role Summary

As a WIC Dietitian or Competent Professional Authority (CPA) at Hillcrest Family Services, your essential duties will involve delivering nutritional assessments, education, and support to participants of the WIC program. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Utilizing effective interviewing and dietary history techniques.
  • Evaluating client measurements and test results against WIC certification criteria.
  • Acting as the CPA to determine eligibility and certification for the program.
  • Customizing WIC food packages to align with the dietary needs of participants.
  • Providing personalized nutrition counseling, including support for breastfeeding, tailored to the needs and preferences of participants.
  • Documenting and developing care plans.
  • Engaging in community outreach to promote the WIC program and its advantages.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and dental hygienists, to ensure comprehensive care for WIC participants.
  • Staying informed on the latest research and trends in nutrition and breastfeeding, while participating in professional development opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
  • Licensed Dietitian as per the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examiners, requiring a four-year degree and an internship or a qualified Master's program.
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Iowa.
  • Must be an approved agency driver, with the potential need for personal transportation for off-site clinics.
  • Theoretical knowledge of nutrition relevant to Women, Infants, and Children, with practical application skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with certification and coding processes for both low and high-risk clients.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity towards diverse populations.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
