Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff. As a key member of the healthcare team, this individual is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and processing medical equipment and instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sterilization: Prepares rooms and organizes instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies for specified departments.
  • Instrument Processing: Cleans and decontaminates instruments, containers, and patient equipment using detergents and disinfectant solutions under regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Inventories, orders, replenishes, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment, and medical supplies for general supplies and surgical carts.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains and controls inventory, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer, and infection control practices.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience: 1 Year of Experience in a related field
  • Certification: Certified Board Sterile Processing & Dist (CBSPD), Certified Reg Central Service Tech (CRCST), Certified Sterile Proc/Distr Tech (CSPDT), or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
