Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist is tasked with executing, assessing, and sustaining all planning, scheduling, and order management activities for their designated products to ensure that customer delivery commitments are fulfilled. These products encompass assembled end items, semi-finished goods, and procured components.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for purchased component needs.
  • Confirm customer orders based on material availability and production capacity.
  • Initiate production orders to manufacturing based on material readiness.
  • Provide updates to customer service regarding order progress.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Identify and address immediate material shortages as necessary.
  • Develop and utilize various reports to manage open purchase orders according to business demands.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels to meet budgetary targets.
  • Maintain planning parameters, including safety stock levels.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Strategic Procurement to resolve issues as needed.
  • Review and process Engineering changes and new product introductions as required.
  • Create and/or distribute planning reports as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering (Production or Industrial), or Business Administration.
  • Two to four years of experience in Production Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, and/or Customer Service within a formal MRP environment.
  • A-PICS Certification is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
