About the Department of Auditor-ControllerThe Department of Auditor-Controller is responsible for safeguarding the County's financial integrity, advocating and implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with mandates and fiduciary responsibilities. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Division Chief to lead our team.
About the PositionThe Division Chief will report to an Assistant Auditor-Controller and will be responsible for leading a division within the department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting, auditing, and management, and will be able to analyze and make recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, procedure, program, systems, budget, or personnel.
Essential Job Functions- Leads a division within the department by establishing measurable divisional goals and objectives that align with County/Departmental strategic goals and professional standards.
- Manages a division within the department by evaluating the workload, determining priorities, planning and maintaining an effective work flow from inception to completion.
- Supervises subordinate managers, supervisors, and secretarial staff by performing a full range of activities, including advising, motivating, training, supporting, coaching, mentoring, and disciplining employees.
- Establishes, develops and monitors the division's operating budget by assessing relevant budgetary data, evaluating divisional needs, preparing budget and potential alternative solutions.
- Directs studies within the County/Department/Division related to a function, program, service, or information technology solution by planning, organizing, and directing resources.
- Directs highly complex or sensitive projects or assignments within the County/Department/Division by utilizing the appropriate project management tools.
- Prepares, reviews, and evaluates a variety of documents and data by using appropriate hardware and software programs and using plain language, standard English and applicable professional standards.
- Interacts with a variety of individuals by communicating orally and in writing, representing the Department in a professional manner, collaborating on projects, mediating disputes, participating in various functions and events, making presentations, and providing advice and/or consultation services on matters related to the division's function, programs, or services.
- Oversees the development and/or upgrade of financial, human resources, tax, and related information technology systems by applying the results of research, analysis, development, testing, and other pertinent information.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of any bona-fide supervisory experience, with two (2) years of the five years of required experience in a management capacity at the level of Chief Accountant or Chief Accountant-Auditor or Chief Accounting Systems Analyst, assisting in the administration of a division/operation with responsibility for directing a major section or sections through subordinate supervisors.
