Position Overview

The Cultural Interpreter/Program Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission and objectives of the Cultural Resources Program. This position entails overseeing the program's operations with the support of the Cultural Resources Program Staff, ensuring effective management and strategic direction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs and coordinates the activities of program staff on various projects.
  • Reviews and approves essential documents, including performance evaluations and fiscal reports.
  • Collaborates with technical staff to integrate cultural knowledge into program initiatives.
  • Represents the program at public engagements, advocating for the preservation of cultural resources.
  • Engages with various stakeholders, including governmental and tribal entities, to promote cultural interests.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of hereditary cultural practices and traditions.
  • Proficient in the Yakama Language, with a strong grasp of cultural values and history.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and policies governing cultural resource management.
  • Experience in budget preparation and administrative oversight.
  • Ability to interpret archaeological findings in relation to cultural heritage.

  • Experience in public speaking and community engagement.
  • Familiarity with Yakama Nation governance and cultural resource policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
