Patient Services Associate Job Description

Penn Medicine is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, conducting innovative research, and educating future healthcare leaders.

This role plays a vital part in maintaining a patient-focused environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality care, and contributing to meeting or exceeding patient satisfaction and financial/operational targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strive to create and maintain a culture of safety and service excellence through effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Interact with patients in a professional and pleasant manner, ensuring their needs are met and understood.
  • Analyze problems from the patient's perspective and provide solutions that meet their individual needs.
  • Document patient needs and information in EPIC, ensuring accurate and timely communication with clinical staff.
  • Establish positive relationships with patients by demonstrating knowledge of their history, compassion, and responding to their individual needs.
  • Handle stressful situations appropriately and deliver seamless patient service.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality, safety, and security.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the patient experience and implement changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and fellow coworkers to provide exceptional patient care.
Requirements:
  • Computer knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to speak English for a business setting.
  • Customer-focused communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
  • 2+ years of medical office experience or customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of third-party insurance coverage guidelines.
  • Successful completion of EPIC scheduling training/tests.
  • EMR skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
