Job Title: Housing and Urban Development Supervisor

Join the City of Modesto, CA team as a Housing and Urban Development Supervisor. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Housing and Urban Development programs.

About the Role

The Housing and Urban Development Supervisor will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising Housing and Urban Development programs. This includes developing and implementing program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, as well as overseeing the programming and oversight of Entitlement Funds from HUD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recommend and assist in the development and implementation of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate and assist in the development of the HUD program work plan, assign work activities, projects, and programs, monitor workflow, review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and directing HUD program activities, including development financing, loan portfolio management, affordable housing preservation and rehabilitation, economic development, workforce development, public services, and identification of community needs in relation to affordable housing in low-income community neighborhoods.
  • Supervise subordinate professional, technical, and/or administrative support staff as assigned, coordinate administrative support staff and analytical support as needed for areas of assignment, participate in the selection of staff, provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to improve performance, and implement disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities, recommend improvements and modifications, prepare various reports on operations and activities.
  • Participate in budget preparation and administration, prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations, submit justifications for equipment, materials, and supplies, monitor and control expenditures.
  • Assist with the preparation and present information to the public, work with diverse, grass roots neighborhood groups, leaders, and residents, investigate complaints and recommend corrective action to resolve complaints, as necessary.
  • Research and prepare technical and administrative reports, prepare written correspondence.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
  • Observe and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with established safety programs and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Three years of increasingly responsible experience in Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program implementation, including one year of supervisory responsibility.
  • Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related field.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
