Overview

We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Assistant to join our team at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. As a member of our interdependent care team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healing environment for our pediatric patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff in maintaining a safe and healing environment in the inpatient setting
  • Respond to patient needs, contribute to efficient unit operations, and observe patients as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse
  • Monitor and maintain physical safety of patients through active involvement, observation, and intervention under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse
  • Participate in unit-specific routines, including patient accountability rounds, patient searches, and vital sign monitoring
  • Communicate with patients, family members, and fellow staff to ensure seamless care delivery
Requirements
  • Two-year college equivalent in a human services field or 2-3 years of experience with direct patient care in a behavioral health setting
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Preferred: Associate's degree and 6-12 months of experience in a mental health setting
