Responsibilities

  • Supervise the local overhead transmission team on a daily basis.
  • Lead a collaborative group of Kiewit design professionals and subconsultants to identify client needs, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates.
  • Establish design criteria in accordance with industry, company, and client standards.
  • Oversee the creation of computer models for overhead electric transmission lines and structures using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER.
  • Manage the assembly of drawings, specifications, and design criteria for the procurement of tubular steel structures, lattice towers, and transmission line hardware, ensuring compliance with vendor-supplied calculations and drawings.
  • Oversee the development of comprehensive construction packages for internal construction teams and client contractors, including plan & profiles, staking sheets, stringing tables, bill of materials, structure details, phasing drawings, foundation drawings, and installation specifications.
  • Ensure design oversight and quality reviews for complex drawing packages, meeting Kiewit, client, and code requirements.
  • Foster a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Present to management, analyze PLS-CADD reports, create design aids, and draft reports using Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and availability with overhead transmission management peers in other locations.
  • Encourage the development and mentorship of the local overhead transmission team, including performance management and career path mapping.
  • Identify design-build opportunities and formulate strategies for successful capture.
  • Lead pursuits of design-build projects and consolidate best practices from project execution.
  • Maintain relationships with external design partners and manage project schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure deliverables, quality, and compliance are met.
  • Interface with other Kiewit operating districts and construction project leadership.
  • Conduct site visits, meet with clients, and travel as necessary for project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience in overhead transmission engineering-related roles.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE; experience with PLS TOWER is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical recommendations for foundation design is preferred.
  • Knowledge of client and industry standards, including NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing projects.
  • Experience in managing direct reports, including approving timesheets and performance evaluations.
  • Highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence and initiative.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:
