Wood Rodgers, a prominent engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to become part of our Flood and Drainage Department. In this capacity, you will conduct hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, perform field evaluations, and engage in planning and design activities under guidance or general oversight, contributing to the successful execution of Water Resources initiatives. A deep enthusiasm for hydrology and hydraulics, along with a willingness to undertake field evaluations, is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field evaluations, condition assessments, and data collection related to flow and stream gage installations.
  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic simulation software to analyze rainfall/runoff dynamics, as well as flows in closed conduits, open channels, pump stations, reservoirs, and floodplains.
  • Employ GIS software for analytical tasks and database management to support hydrologic and hydraulic investigations.
  • Create watershed and facility maps, technical documentation, and presentations.
  • Prepare hydrologic assessments and design hydraulic structures.
  • Compile and summarize statistical data and assist in report preparation.
  • Contribute to the planning and design of public works and private land development projects by aiding in plan creation, profiles, cross-sections, and various calculations and drawings.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Coursework in Hydraulic and Hydrologic Concepts and Modeling.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with expertise in GIS, ArcMap 10.4 (or the latest version), and AutoCAD, along with familiarity with applicable software in the department. Knowledge of programming languages is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information in both verbal and written formats.
  • Capable of performing intermediate-level open channel and floodplain hydraulic analyses using one-dimensional (ICM, HEC-RAS, SWMM, etc.) and two-dimensional modeling software (ICM, TUFLOW, DHI, HEC-RAS, etc.).
  • Skilled in intermediate-level rainfall/runoff modeling using HEC-HMS or similar software to assess flood hydrograph timing and volume.
  • Able to assist in analyzing rainfall and stream flow gage data for depth/duration/frequency analysis.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, ArcMap 10.1 (or the latest version), and other relevant software.
  • A solid understanding and demonstrated knowledge of general civil engineering practices in floodplain management analysis and design.
