The Health Services Specialist (Safety) is a Registered Nurse responsible for ensuring the quality of nursing services at the Porterville Developmental Center. This role involves ongoing monitoring, assessing, and making recommendations for the maintenance of quality nursing services, with a primary emphasis on the medical and physical care needs of forensic and non-forensic clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide education and training in nursing care to unit personnel and clients
- Perform other related duties as required
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care
This role requires ongoing interaction with clients and staff, potential exposure to communicable diseases, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. The incumbent must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and participate in client containment, intervention, or restraint.
Requirements:- Valid State of California Driver's License
- Clearance to drive a state vehicle
- BLS, ACLS, and Physical Assessment certificates
- Ability to work extended hours and various shifts
Selected candidates are subject to special requirements, including a medical evaluation. This position is required to complete a medical evaluation and is not eligible for telework.
