Safety Support Specialist Opportunity

We are excited to invite a committed and proficient Safety Support Specialist to join our organization at Homes for the Homeless (HFH). This role is essential in our mission to safeguard the well-being of families at our facility. As a Safety Support Specialist, you will collaborate with multiple departments to uphold a secure environment for those we serve. Candidates should possess a valid NYS Security License upon commencement.

Homes for the Homeless operates shelters dedicated to assisting families facing homelessness in New York City. Our facilities provide more than just temporary accommodations; we offer a variety of onsite programs designed to support families throughout their stay. Our goal is to foster a lasting positive impact that empowers families to thrive beyond their time with us.

Key Duties

  • Perform regular inspections throughout the premises.
  • Track and record resident movements.
  • Uphold facility policies and procedures.
  • Document any safety hazards encountered.
  • Support fire safety protocols and evacuation plans.
  • React promptly to emergencies and incidents.
  • Maintain vigilance and attentiveness during shifts.
  • Assist with various operational tasks as required.
  • Be open to working additional hours as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Completion of current 8-hour and 16-hour training courses.
  • Additional certifications such as F-02 and F-80 are advantageous.
