Job Overview

Position Summary:
The role of the Construction Superintendent is critical in ensuring that our commercial projects are executed efficiently and within the designated timelines. This position involves direct oversight of construction activities on-site, ensuring that all operations align with the project specifications, budget, and schedule. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to engage with architects, engineers, and subcontractors while effectively managing the workforce to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish the overall project schedule and manage its execution, including the development of short-term schedules to monitor progress.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive site logistics plan tailored to the specific needs of the project.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of construction plans to identify and address any discrepancies or challenges prior to execution.
  • Assist in formulating detailed scopes of work for subcontractors to ensure clarity and accountability.
  • Set up the necessary field office infrastructure, including trailers, storage solutions, and safety signage.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors to ensure all parties are aligned before commencing work.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with all stakeholders, including clients, design teams, and subcontractors, to keep everyone informed of project developments.
  • Source and select suppliers for materials and equipment, ensuring they meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Oversee the scheduling and management of subcontractors to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Document daily site activities and maintain accurate logs of progress and challenges encountered.
  • Facilitate weekly safety and subcontractor meetings to uphold safety standards and project expectations.
  • Ensure the job site is organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations, creating necessary documentation for project tracking.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and quality issues, addressing them promptly.
  • Coordinate all required inspections and ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
  • Organize and lead project-related meetings to facilitate effective communication among all parties involved.
  • Engage in hands-on work as necessary to meet project demands and resolve on-site issues.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a construction-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, including supervisory roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction practices, materials, and industry regulations.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage subcontractors effectively to meet project objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
