Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Medical Assistant III to join our team at the Maui Lani Medical Offices in Wailuku, Hawaii. As a medical assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and record patient vital signs, prevention data, medications, chief complaints, and other pertinent information.
  • Assist practitioners with minor procedures, prepare sterile and unsterile fields, and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Transcribe patient data into electronic systems, prioritize care based on acuity, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Prepare rooms and instruments for exams or procedures, collect and process specimens, and perform point-of-care laboratory tests as authorized.
  • Review instructions with patients and families regarding diagnostic tests, medical procedures, surgeries, and treatments.
  • Coordinate efforts with nursing supervisors, staff, and other departments to maintain standards of patient care.
  • Apply dressings, pads, and splints as ordered by practitioners, and assist with routine surgical procedures under supervision.
  • Maintain familiarity with various schedules, clinic procedures, coding techniques, and preferences unique to individual practitioners and nursing staff.
  • Direct patients to business offices for financial concerns and ensure office areas are stocked with supplies.
  • Participate in projects as requested and adhere to organizational, departmental, and clinic-specific standards, policies, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a post-high school medical assisting program with 200 hours of clinical externship or equivalent experience.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is between $49,000 and $52,500, depending on location and experience.
