Job Summary

The Custodian will provide custodial services at assigned facilities, ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing a variety of special cleaning operations and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.



Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with site snow removal to ensure access and safety.
  • Participate in training and drills to ensure emergency procedures are in order and alarm systems are operational.
  • Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, playgrounds, and adjacent grounds, neat and clean at all times.
  • Assume responsibility for opening/closing facilities as required.
  • Comply with laws and establish procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
  • Monitor students and staff to prevent injuries and ensure site safety.
  • Perform summer maintenance to complete and/or facilitate summer construction.
  • Prepare sites for daily operations to ensure facilities are operational and hazard-free.
  • Replenish classroom and rest room supplies to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors to provide information and take appropriate action.
  • Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability.
  • Support other site maintenance staff to complete site custodial activities.


Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass background check and physical capabilities test.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks to meet changing job descriptions.
  • Ability to operate equipment used in general maintenance of the buildings.
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices.


Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk/hear. Occasional requirements include reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 50 pounds, and seeing, including close, distance, and depth perception.
