Job Summary

The Custodian will provide custodial services at assigned facilities, ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing a variety of special cleaning operations and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with site snow removal to ensure access and safety
  • Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment
  • Deliver various items to the appropriate parties within the facility
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed
  • Participate in training and drills with students and staff to ensure emergency procedures are in order
  • Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times
  • Assume responsibility for opening/closing of the facility
  • Comply with laws and establish procedures for storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste
  • Inform students and site personnel to provide information and direction regarding activities, safety issues, and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment
  • Monitor students and staff in and around work areas to prevent injuries and ensure site safety
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Pass background check
  • Pass physical capabilities test
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks to meet changing job descriptions
  • Ability to operate equipment used in general maintenance of the building
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk/hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Climbs ladders. Occasionally pushes, pulls, or lifts up to 50 lbs. Able to see, including close, distance, and depth perception.
