The Column Assembly Specialist is tasked with the assembly of DAC and SCS columns, hydraulic carts, and various components related to column equipment.

This role also encompasses pre-assembly activities, including readiness checks of assembly hardware, seals/O-rings, fabricated parts, and the generation of qualification test forms, along with troubleshooting and repairing columns.

Moreover, the Column Assembly Specialist collaborates across departments to ensure adherence to equipment build schedules and serves as a liaison among Assembly, Quality Control, and Operations.

The Specialist is responsible for training new assembly personnel and engineering interns on all relevant processes. Additionally, they assist with equipment qualification and facility upkeep.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (90% work time):
  • Adhere to Company procedures, work instructions, engineering technical drawings, datasheets, BOMs, and P&IDs to guarantee safety, quality, and precision.
  • Assemble biopharmaceutical equipment (DAC and SCS columns, hydraulic carts, and other column-related components).
  • Support the qualification of assembled equipment, including the completion of essential Certificates of Compliance per Company Work Instructions.
  • Conduct basic rework on fabricated parts (polishing, thread chasing, grinding, etc.).
  • Review orders in ERP (Navision).
  • Prepare equipment for shipping (packing components and maintenance hardware, cleaning equipment, etc.).
  • Update project status in project management software (ClickUp).
  • Maintain minimum levels of Floor Stock items.
  • Provide technical training to new assembly technicians and other Company and customer personnel.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (10% work time):
  • Assist Quality Control with the inspection of incoming components.
  • Provide deficiency reports to the Production Manager and assist in resolving those issues.
  • As necessary, assist with inventory cycle counts.
  • Visit fabrication vendor sites for parts quality control and pre-assembly activities.
  • Facility maintenance.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to Production Manager - Columns.
  • Receives guidance from the Column Production and Qualification Specialist and Senior Assembly Technician.


MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to consistently follow Company work schedules.
  • Manage personal time off schedules in advance.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills.
  • Familiarity with commonly used hand tools.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
