Job Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our Facilities and Site Services Mechanical Maintenance division. This role operates on a 4x10 schedule, providing a unique work-life balance with every Friday off. All tasks are conducted onsite, ensuring hands-on engagement with our facilities and equipment.

Your primary responsibility will be to execute mechanical maintenance duties on various systems and equipment at INL. This will involve leveraging your extensive knowledge and skills to install, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of mechanical systems. You will report directly to the Mechanical Maintenance department manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of systems and components.
  • Utilize drawings, schematics, and work specifications, employing modern techniques and tools.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues in all aspects of work to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Review technical documents, manuals, and labels for accurate information.
  • Maintain accurate records, including time sheets and other documentation.
  • Engage in regular communication with peers and supervisors.
  • Participate in work planning and estimation of work hours.
  • Deliver on-the-job training (OJT) for other craftspeople and assist in maintenance assessments and material procurement as necessary.
  • Adhere to proper work control protocols and document all work performed.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, combined with 5 years of relevant experience, a 2-year vocational training program and 3 years of experience, or a recognized trade apprenticeship with 2 years of experience.
  • A valid state driver's license is required for the duration of employment.
  • This position necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The hourly wage for this position is $43.04 (subject to variation based on work location, clearances, and qualifications).
