Job Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our Facilities and Site Services Mechanical Maintenance division. This role operates on a 4x10 schedule, providing a work-life balance with every Friday off. All responsibilities are conducted onsite. You will engage in mechanical maintenance activities on various facilities and equipment at INL, utilizing a comprehensive understanding and expertise to install, troubleshoot, and repair diverse mechanical systems. You will report directly to the Mechanical Maintenance department manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of systems and components.
  • Interpret drawings, schematics, and work specifications employing modern techniques and tools.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues in all aspects of work to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Review technical documents, manuals, and labels for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records, including time sheets and other documentation.
  • Engage in regular communication with peers and supervisors.
  • Participate in work planning assessments and estimate work hours.
  • Deliver on-the-job training (OJT) for other tradespeople, assist in maintenance evaluations, and handle material procurement tasks as necessary.
  • Execute work in accordance with established work control procedures and document all tasks performed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 5 years of relevant experience, a 2-year vocational training program with 3 years of related experience, or a recognized trade apprenticeship with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license throughout employment.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, necessitating U.S. Citizenship.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The hourly wage for this position is $43.04 (Rates may vary based on individual work location, clearances, and qualifications).
