Education Leadership Specialist

Pursue a challenging and rewarding role with Psfamilynyc as an Education Director. This is a non-exempt salaried position that requires 40 hours of work per week, including evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, a New York State teacher certification, and at least two years of documented experience as a teacher in a program for children under six years of age.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to oversee all educational services for families and affiliated providers. As the Education Director, you will be responsible for supporting educational services in family child care settings, creating curriculum supports, providing professional development training, and leading the education specialist team.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing Educational Services
    • Support educational services in family child care settings by providing guidance and professional learning on the implementation of an appropriate mixed-age evidence-based curriculum.
    • Supervise and mentor other educational staff, providing coaching with providers, child assessments, authentic assessments, and serving special populations.
  • Curriculum Development
    • Create, review, and adapt curriculum supports that foster hands-on developmentally appropriate and relationship-based interactions with all children.
  • Professional Development
    • Provide professional development training to improve instruction, scheduling, tracking, and reviewing data from staff visits to provider sites.
  • Leadership and Quality Assurance
    • Lead the education specialist team in assessing the quality of affiliated family child care programs.
  • Provider Support
    • Support providers who are working toward the completion of a CDA certification, CDA application and renewal process, or other higher early childhood education degree.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Ensure that all affiliated provider home visits are documented timely on the HUB or other database required by DOE, and are aligned with the DOE's Early Childhood Framework for Quality (EFQ).
  • Program Support
    • Plan and supervise Professional Development Days for Program Support.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Attend meetings and give reports at team meetings, leadership meetings, and company-wide meetings.
  • Culture and Values
    • Support Family Child Care Providers and Program Support Team Members with respect and care.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Complete reports in a timely manner.
Requirements

To succeed as our Education Director, you should possess:

  • A Master's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • New York State teacher certification
  • At least two years of documented experience as a teacher in a program for children under six years of age
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
