POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Operations Manager encompasses comprehensive oversight of the operational functions within the organization, particularly in calibration, electronics, and machining sectors. Key responsibilities include achieving shipping targets while adhering to departmental metrics such as Gross Margin, On-Time Delivery, Warranty, Scrap, and cost efficiency, all while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a strategic operations plan.
  • Achieve quarterly revenue objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to On-Time Delivery (OTD) standards for both customer commitments and internal deadlines.
  • Reduce lead times effectively.
  • Minimize workflow discrepancies to enhance first-pass yields.
  • Design and establish robust systems that facilitate the shipment of high-quality products and support growth through the creation of routers, work instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Instill a quality-focused (5S) and disciplined methodology in operational activities.
  • Ensure seamless product transition from development engineering to production and ultimately to the customer.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding performance metrics, progress towards group and company objectives.
  • Maintain the Operations dashboard with daily updates and lead daily operational meetings.
  • Complete assigned projects that align with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production-related issues.
  • Deliver a product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives that align with corporate objectives.
  • Work alongside Engineering to specify new procurement needs and vendors, demonstrating familiarity with general manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct necessary employee training and maintain Core Boards.
  • Oversee the generation and administration of performance evaluations.
  • Authorize purchase requisitions for all operational needs.
  • Approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Material Review Board (MRB) decisions regarding products.

SUPERVISORY ROLE: This position is responsible for overseeing Operations, setting priorities, objectives, and schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined. The following qualifications are essential:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly, prepare reports, analyze data, and plan effectively.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Proficient in utilizing ERP systems for data extraction and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to devise and implement effective solutions.
  • High level of technical and engineering expertise.
  • Adept at interpreting and conveying a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) is required, along with a minimum of five years of supervisory or managerial experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential. Experience in a job shop setting, as opposed to high-volume production, is preferred. A proactive attitude and the ability to manage multiple diverse products simultaneously are crucial. Quality assurance experience is advantageous.
