SUMMARY:
This role is accountable for overseeing all facets of the operational activities within the organization, particularly in calibration, electronics, and machining sectors. Key responsibilities encompass achieving shipping targets while adhering to departmental metrics such as Gross Margin, On-Time Delivery, Warranty, Scrap, and cost reduction initiatives. The Operations Manager also holds responsibility for the overall facility management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the operational strategy.
- Achieve quarterly revenue objectives.
- Ensure On-Time Delivery (OTD) targets are met or surpassed.
- Reduce lead times effectively.
- Minimize workflow discrepancies to maximize first-pass yields.
- Design and establish robust systems to facilitate the shipment of quality products and support growth through the implementation of routers, work instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Instill a quality-focused (5S) and disciplined operational approach.
- Ensure smooth product transitions from development engineering to production and ultimately to the customer.
- Communicate effectively with the team regarding performance, progress towards group and company objectives.
- Maintain the Operations dashboard with daily updates and lead the daily operations meetings.
- Complete assigned projects that align with the strategic initiatives of the organization.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production-related issues.
- Deliver a quality product that aligns with customer expectations.
- Implement cost reduction and efficiency programs in line with corporate objectives.
- Work alongside Engineering to specify new purchasing products and vendors, demonstrating familiarity with general manufacturing concepts.
- Conduct necessary employee training and maintain Core Boards.
- Generate and manage required performance evaluations.
- Authorize purchase requisitions for all operational needs.
- Approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Material Review Board (MRB) product dispositions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position oversees the Operations department, setting priorities, objectives, and schedules.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform each essential duty. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to present information clearly, write reports, analyze data, and plan effectively. Candidates should be comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels. Proficiency in extracting and analyzing data from ERP systems is required. The ability to analyze problem situations and develop effective solutions is crucial. A high level of technical and engineering competence is necessary, along with the ability to interpret and communicate various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) is required, along with a minimum of five years of supervisory or managerial experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential. Experience in a job shop environment is preferred over high-volume production. A proactive attitude and the ability to manage multiple diverse products simultaneously are important. Quality experience is an added advantage.
