Key Responsibilities

Instructors are accountable for the effective preparation of curriculum and delivery of courses that align with our School's vision and mission, including our Transcultural Perspective, compliance with syllabus and accessibility standards, utilization of Canvas as the primary learning management system, assessment and grading of assignments, maintaining office hours, supporting student learning and professional growth, and collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance student success. Instructors are also expected to participate in necessary meetings to effectively teach the assigned courses and support activities essential for maintaining accreditation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit awareness of and respond to the needs of a diverse student population, including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic status, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation, through inclusive course materials and teaching strategies.
  • Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure all classes are conducted as scheduled throughout the semester or term, in the assigned mode (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess at least an MSW from a CSWE-accredited graduate social work program. Additional required qualifications include:

  • In-depth knowledge of the subject matter relevant to the assigned discipline;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and mentoring;
  • Ability to teach and assess adult learners effectively;
  • Practical social work experience (mandatory for teaching practice courses);
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral);
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the educational objectives of a multicultural population, gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or similar experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge of trends in the social work profession concerning diversity and globalization, including specializations with specific cultural and/or language groups;
  • Capability to teach in both online and in-person formats;
  • Proficiency with technology, software, and digital tools;
  • Experience with multimedia and social media relevant to education.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by qualifications and experience. The anticipated salary for Special Session programs is as follows (a typical course is 3 WTUs):

L-A / Range 2: $2146 per WTU
L-B / Range 3: $2352 per WTU
L-C / Range 4: $2963 per WTU
L-D / Range 5: $3746 per WTU

Employment Conditions

Faculty members must complete required CSU employee training as assigned based on their role. This position may involve ongoing review for designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
