Job Overview:

Rolling Hills Country Club is in search of a Part-Time Pastry Assistant to support the Pastry Chef.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute dessert preparations for both restaurant service and banquet events.
  • Operate effectively within a high-volume environment generating $5-$6 million in revenue.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of food products and apply culinary techniques skillfully.
  • Contribute innovative ideas for menu development and food presentation.
  • Ensure that all products meet the club's standards for quality, freshness, and presentation.
  • Assist in the baking and preparation of menu items according to established specifications.
  • Under the guidance of the Pastry Chef, oversee the work of pastry cooks and manage food preparation, portioning, garnishing, and storage.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques and equipment usage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, tools, and supplies.
  • Uphold a safe and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with health regulations.
  • Exhibit professionalism and initiative in all tasks.
  • Foster teamwork and professionalism within the kitchen team.
  • Ensure adherence to club policies and procedures by all staff members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Qualifications:
  • This is a part-time hourly position.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Culinary Arts degree preferred.
  • Experience in fine dining establishments preferred.
  • Valid Food Handlers License required.
  • Proficient in various pastry techniques, including sugar work, classical French pastries, breads, and modern desserts.
  • Knowledgeable about food allergies and food safety practices.
  • Understanding of food and beverage service standards and member relations.
  • Ability to assist with menu pricing and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with state laws and regulations related to food service.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to actively listen and learn.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work in a hot, humid, and sometimes slippery environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Education and Experience:
  • Preferred experience in private club settings.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
