Position Overview

The selected candidate will oversee patient flow coordination, ensuring timely processing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of practices utilized within the department and healthcare facility to address patient inquiries and concerns. This role requires familiarity with insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida pricing, financial assistance options, and overall Revenue Cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support go-lives and various departmental initiatives, including onboarding and training new team members.
  2. Engage in departmental committees and champion opportunities for improvement.
  3. Exemplify the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence by delivering professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED, or equivalent training or experience is required.

Additional Qualifications:

For internal candidates: A minimum of 1 year of Patient Access experience, demonstrating the ability to independently perform all functions within the Level 1 job description. Must meet or exceed BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for the past 6 months and exceed departmental KPIs. A positive attitude, self-motivation, and encouragement of team collaboration are essential. Candidates should be cross-trained in multiple areas to substitute for various staff positions as needed.

For external candidates: An Associate's Degree is preferred, along with 1 year of Patient Access experience, or 2 years of experience in lieu of a degree. Completion and passing of the Patient Access training course are required. Candidates must be able to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations. Attention to detail, organizational skills, teamwork, compassion, and excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills are crucial.

Desired Skills: Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure, as well as understanding insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products, and EMR applications. Familiarity with medical terminology is also beneficial. Bilingual candidates (English, Spanish/Creole) are encouraged to apply.
