Job Overview

MorseLife Health System is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to provide exceptional rehabilitation services. The Physical Therapist will deliver therapeutic interventions for residents experiencing various physical challenges, including injuries and disorders related to muscles, nerves, joints, and bones.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, be empathetic and organized, adaptable to changing situations, and an adept problem solver. This essential role involves interacting with patients, demonstrating professionalism, and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate physician referrals and resident medical histories to determine necessary physical therapy interventions.
  • Conduct assessments to measure residents' strength, motor skills, sensory perception, functional abilities, and overall health, documenting findings to create or modify treatment plans.
  • Design and implement tailored treatment programs based on comprehensive evaluations.
  • Administer manual therapies to enhance and sustain functional capabilities.
  • Guide, motivate, and assist residents in performing physical activities and utilizing supportive devices, such as crutches and prosthetics.
  • Apply various physical agents as part of treatment protocols.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes.
  • Perform therapeutic massage techniques.
  • Document treatment sessions, resident responses, and progress in their medical records or electronic systems.
  • Educate residents and their families on ongoing treatment practices to be continued at home.
  • Assess, fit, and modify prosthetic and orthotic devices, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to gather additional resident information, propose treatment modifications, and ensure integrated care.
  • Supervise and mentor rehabilitation technicians, physical therapy assistants, and students.
  • Conduct educational sessions and training programs on physical therapy topics for healthcare staff, students, and community organizations.
  • Engage in physical therapy research initiatives and contribute to research projects.
Supervisory Duties

This position entails overseeing the activities of rehabilitation technicians, physical therapy assistants, and students within the department.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant health science field from an accredited institution, along with one to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
